Lil-Lets

For this project, I was required to focus on one Sustainable Development Goal and craft an ambient media campaign around it. I chose the goal of gender equality, and decided to focus on the issue of period poverty in South Africa. Every individual deserves to manage their menstruation with dignity. Period poverty strips away this basic human right, leading to feelings of shame, humiliation, and diminished self-worth. My final concept is titled “My body, not my choice”, and signifies how countless women and girls are being oppressed due to a bodily function they cannot control. The final result was a confrontational bench that gave participants a small taste of the shame that 7 million schoolgirls across the country face.
